SC to hear appeal on SC/ST reservations hike
Deputy CM Dr. G. Parameshwar said the cabinet has discussed the High Court's verdict on increasing SC/ST reservations and will file an appeal to the Supreme Court.

Bangalore: Deputy Chief Minister Dr. G. Parameshwar said that the cabinet has thoroughly discussed the High Court's verdict related to increasing reservations for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, and an appeal will be filed with the Supreme Court.
Speaking to journalists in Bangalore today, he said that it is necessary to examine how the High Court's verdict on the existing 56% reservations in educational admissions and government jobs would affect the opportunities available to various communities. He expressed concern that this could reduce the opportunities available to communities that have been deprived of opportunities in social, educational, and employment sectors for thousands of years.
He clarified that the fundamental objective of reservations is to provide justice to communities that have been deprived of opportunities for thousands of years in social, educational, and employment sectors. He said that the state's situation should be considered an extraordinary circumstance and that the court should be given an opportunity to review it as a special case.
Responding to the BJP leaders' allegations that the government is neglecting the issue of reservations, he said that the government cannot influence the court's verdict.
