Newborn Dies After Ambulance Stuck On Damaged Road In UP
A newborn girl died after an ambulance was stuck for two hours on a damaged road in UP. Officials say the matter is under investigation.

A newborn girl died after an ambulance was stuck for nearly two hours on a damaged road in Gadhwar village, according to a complaint filed by the family. The incident reportedly occurred on September 2 when Pradeep Singh's wife went into labour and the family called a government ambulance. The ambulance became stuck on a damaged road on the way to the hospital, forcing villagers to tie it to a tractor to pull it out, the complaint stated. The woman eventually reached the hospital, but by then the newborn had stopped breathing, the complaint read. Pradeep Kumar, the father, wrote to authorities seeking action against those responsible for the road's upkeep.
Sub-Divisional Magistrate Vinod Kumar confirmed that the complaint was received during Tehsil Diwas on September 5 and has been forwarded to the Public Works Department, from which a report has been sought. Kumar stated that further action will be taken after the report is received. Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav shared a news clip of the incident on X, attributing the death to corruption. He said, "What could be more unfortunate than this — due to the BJP's corruption, even those who have not yet been born are being killed." The complaint highlights the challenges faced by emergency services in rural areas and the potential consequences of neglected infrastructure.
The incident has sparked discussions about the state of road maintenance and emergency response systems in the region. While the family's complaint emphasizes the failure of infrastructure, the official response indicates that an investigation is ongoing. The Public Works Department has been asked to provide a report, which will determine the next steps. The case also raises questions about the accountability of local authorities and the effectiveness of emergency services in reaching critical locations.
The family's distress underscores the gravity of the situation, as the delay in reaching the hospital may have contributed to the newborn's death. The complaint filed by Pradeep Kumar reflects the frustration of the family and the broader community regarding the lack of proper road maintenance. The incident has drawn attention to the need for improved infrastructure and emergency response mechanisms, particularly in rural areas where access to healthcare can be limited.
The political remarks made by Akhilesh Yadav have added another layer to the discussion, linking the incident to broader issues of governance and corruption. While the family's complaint focuses on the immediate circumstances, the political angle highlights the potential for such incidents to become part of larger debates about public service delivery. The ongoing investigation will be crucial in determining the extent of responsibility and the necessary measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
The case serves as a reminder of the critical importance of maintaining infrastructure and ensuring that emergency services can operate effectively. The delay in reaching the hospital may have had severe consequences, and the family's call for accountability reflects the need for systemic improvements. As the investigation continues, the focus remains on understanding the circumstances and taking steps to enhance public safety and emergency response capabilities.
